The pussy bow blouse is perfect for Fall and winter looks. Style it with jeans and a leather jacket, or pair it with pea coat to get a chic feminine look.
I know it’s usually something you see at work, but I don’t care! I am just going to wear it whenever I want to.
I sewed up the largest size on the Sew Over It Pussy Bow pattern (US 16), and I ended up taking it in a lot. I didn’t even need to add length to account for my height. I usually sew an 18 or 20, so you should be okay if you are that size too. Remember I am a large boned 6 foot tall woman so that should tell ya there is a lot of ease.
Here are my tips for when sewing this pattern:
1. Check out the sew-along on the Sew Over It website before you begin. They sew it slightly different from the directions, and the color photos make it easier to understand.
2. Do not be afraid to use sewing tape instead of basting the neckline. I have carpal tunnel so I try to minimize any hand sewing.
3. Go ahead and edge stitch the neckline down with your machine instead of slip stitching if you feel like it. I did, and I don’t mind the look at all.
4. For slinky fabrics, use organic hairspray to stiffen the fabric so you can make the folds needed. My favorite recipe came from The Rain Country youtube channel. Test it on a scrap piece first of course.
I just love this top! Even if my husband thinks it looks old fashioned. Hey what’s wrong with old fashion anyway!

Kathi just sent me your blog. I just spent an hour looking at every picture of you! You are so beautiful! When I was looking, I would say, Oh, I can see a hint of Mom in that picture, and there I see Rachel, and Aunt Jean and Jo. Your face is a refection of so many family members which all together make up the beautiful, unique look that is yours alone. Love, Aunt Kathy. PS You can sure sew!
Well that made me cry. Thank you Auntie! That was soo sweet.
Wow so professional and very detailed. I feel like if I wanted to sew again I would love all your helpful hints. Your pics are so beautiful. You are beautiful. I love that you are doing this blog.
Aww, thank you! I hope you do feel motivated to sew. Your compliments are much appreciated!
