When the fabric chooses the garment

I do quite a bit of thrift store fabric finding. Sometimes, I get suiting fabric, or corduroy, or eyelet, you know, the kind you don’t want to pay $16/yard for.

There were 3 yards of the plain grey and 2 yards of the plaid. They both will become Seville skirts by Itch to Stitch. More blog on that later.

You can even use things like duvet covers for garments that need more structure like this minty number here. I kind of mixed up a bunch of pattern pieces for this one. That was a lot of fun.

And a linen duvet cover blouse from the Sew Over It Vintage Shirt dress.

Earlier in spring, I was going mad from wanting to sew up this Athina Kakou dress pattern but not having enough money to buy nice fabric. I got lucky at Goodwill with this eyelet fabric and a vintage sheet.

I will showcase some more of my thrifted fabric creations as I wear them. Some are favorites always in rotation.

I hope this inspires you to go out and fine some thrifted fabric too!
